Therapy

We all have a natural resilience to heal from trauma, loss, and unexpected setbacks, however stories created about who we are can get in the way. They tell us we are not good enough, that we will fail, that we are not safe. They disconnect us from others and wreak havoc in our bodies.  Together, we will partner to make sense of and transform these stories, allowing for growth and connection.  I believe that even our adversities can be a source of strength and an opportunity to better ourselves.

Somatic

My holistic approach includes Somatic therapy, utilized through training and consultation in Somatic Experiencing.  Somatic Experiencing supports clients in growing their ability to regulate their nervous system/survival states (fight, flight, freeze, fawn).  This is done through a variety of methods, including relational work and mindfulness practices. Somatic Experiencing helps us discover and stay connected to our identity, allowing us to show up in relationship with others and the world around us.

Grief

Even when loss takes its natural course, our modern society does not necessarily support the organic grief process.  I can provide such a space where you are allowed to feel your emotions and process in the time that feels right to you.  In complex grief - such as disenfranchised/unrecognized grief or where we lose someone that we have complicated feelings toward - therapy becomes a space to untangle the messiness that comes from the complexity.  I also recognize many life stages and transitions as loss - such as aging, break-ups, life not going the way we expect - in which utilizing a grief approach can be helpful in treatment.

Therapeutic Touch

There are many benefits to touch, especially in early development. Touch can communicate compassion and many other emotions. I have received training in Transforming Touch, which incorporates touch to specific areas of the body known to be helpful in regulating the nervous system/survival states (fight, flight, freeze, fawn). This type of work can be helpful for early developmental and attachment trauma (ie: challenging family of origin relationships, childhood traumatic experiences or chronic stress). Transforming Touch is non-sexual touch done in the context of a professional therapeutic relationship and always starts with consent; it can be done both in person and virtually.

No Surprises Act:
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
